What Men Hides Inside
Men cry too,
but they do it late,
when rooms go quiet,
when no one can hear.
Men break open,
in ways unseen,
holding themselves
as if they might fall apart.
Men fear the mornings,
when thoughts run wild,
when their own mind
turns against them.
Men feel everything,
every bruise of life,
every cold moment
that tells them they are alone.
Men get hurt,
by love that betrays,
by words that cut
deeper than anyone knows.
Men doubt their worth,
looking in mirrors
that show them
all they think they are not.
Men sink low,
under the weight
of being strong
for everyone but themselves.
And the saddest truth
is how long they suffer,
how long they wait
for someone to see them.
So hold them close,
hear their silence,
because men struggle
more than they ever say.
And sometimes all they want
is a hand on their back,
a voice saying gently,
“I know you’re tired. I see you.”
Hug your man,
don’t shrug him away,
listen to his feelings,
talk about his thoughts.

Thank you, Miss Marie, for understanding us men. Good job.
What a lovely poem, Marie. Thank you for calling this out on behalf of all the men who want the world to know they are human too. 💙💙
