”Why don’t we ever go to the places I want to go?”
A sigh and the reply;
“Cause we dont b*tch. That’s why.”
Oh yes, love was in the air my friend.
The Welfare Division parking lot
was hot even for June
the tarmac was radiant
they left in a Cadillac Escalade
he was driving
I was unloading all this furniture
off the back of a box truck
donations we had picked up that day
and that brief exchange between them
made me smile honestly
despite the nature of it
A spectacle to be kept at arms length
I’ve always felt comfortable around
people, especially couples
when they argue
thanks to my parents I guess
feels like home
