We Were Really Here.
Remembering Treasured Places And People From The Past
Walking through this beautiful place feels like I've been here before,
I smell the fresh scent of green grass, taking off my shoes to feel the
soft blades between my toes,
I stare into the bubbling stream watching my memories float smoothly, like a woven tapestry in my mind,
It is there that I see your reflection, a sweet smile and warm brown eyes; the perfect photo reminding me of our friendship throughout those difficult childhood years.
I continue my walk, seeing old benches and shelters where we used to sit and laugh,
Movies of us laughing, joking, crying, and hugging play inside my mind, reminding me that this is the place where we fell in love,
The night falls, and the sky is clear. Stars appear in the warm, vivid, velvet blanket of the sky covering the universe on this warm summer night,
I lie down on the grass and watch the stars, counting every single one of them, just as we did when we played together in this beautiful place,
I feel like all is surreal,
Is this only a dream?
Will I wake up?
I lay here until morning breaks,
Then I smile, and I remember;
We were really here.
