We the People
A poem about love and unity being the key to change.

We had a voice, and we try to speak,
Our message, once strong, now grows weak.
They claim to listen, yet we go unheard,
We're losing the plot with every word.
Why is it easier to go, when we know we could stay?
They say we've lost a game when we didn't know how to play.
We're at a disadvantage, with no chance to win,
The world's light dims as the dark creeps in.
Generational trauma, the cycle repeats,
There're death and violence filling the streets.
In schools, and homes, and in the public eye,
Love seems so far, like a star in the sky.
The left and the right collide in the middle,
Both sides fighting, none budging even a little.
An eternal war that brings death and despair,
That will only end with devastation everywhere.
What would happen if we opened our mind and opened our heart?
Can we get to a place where a united world can start?
Somewhere on the battlefield where a truce can be had,
Where death isn't an emotion and where love isn't bad.
We alone can't move mountains but united we can.
Every race, every gender, every human, united we stand.
We'll push for acceptance, freedom, and equality,
We'll aim for peace and take down the corrupt polity.
When we place our hand over our heart, it serves to remind
That no matter where we come from, inside we will find
The same heart beating and lungs to breathe.
Once united with love instead of hate, we are freed.
When we remember that everyone's the same,
No matter our status, our age, or our name,
No matter our race, our gender, or who we choose to love,
We will remember we all share the same stars above.
