complicated hearts rarely bloom
settling for companion over passion, knowing
those bonds hold a certain type of love, like
being part of a perpetual game requiring emotional ante...
I would never wish that by
believing our alliance with bliss is a desperate ploy
your eyes reveal truth in every glance

I prefer the reverse one…fabulous job, congrats!!
Really interesting. Not sure which one I like better but I am leaning towards the inverse order.
Lamar, this is excellent work. I love inverse perspectives and Watering Fake Flowers is a fine example of my love for this style of poetry. Congratulations on making the leaderboard!
Wooohooooo congratulations on your Leaderboard placement! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
Lamar, this is smooth!! So well done!!! Congrats on honourable mention this week!!
Ayyy glad this got an HM
Well-wrought, Lamar! One of the more complex inverse perspective pieces I've read! Love it! Love, it seems to me, is a transcendant space that exists where all contradictions phase out, and can be experienced in oneself. However, where two people can share it, it is indeed as rare and beautiful as the fabled Blue Rose.
When I saw it could be read both ways-- the first time I read it was from the bottom up-- and then I read it the second time from the top down. Mind-blowing, Sir! Stunning!! ⚡💙⚡
Settling for companion over passion—damn. So poignant and well wrought, Lamar.
This left me speechless. You executed this so perfectly! The emotional depth, the imagery, the word choice...it's all amazing. This really is such stellar writing and I hope you get Top Story for this one!
This is fabulous. Well done, my friend.
Oh wow! Impressively done, Lamar! An inverse in 50 words is no small feat!
This really speaks of the complex interplay in romantic relationships, Lamar. The conundrum shifts perspective when read both ways but its always present. Really remarkable and honest poetry!
Clever work that keeps the strength of its lines both ways. Great job!
Wow, what a clever inverse love poem :) Awesome job, Lamar!
Cleverly done ✅.
Profound, resonant work, Lamar! The opening and closing lines moved me in particular, but this whole thing is rich with deep insight. Bravo, sir! :)
Oh my, you executed this brilliantly! It reads so well both ways. Loved it!
such a beautiful love poem <3
Wow, Lamar - this is something else. There's so much to unpack and languish in here. I second Matthew Fromm's comment, lol!
Awesome!!! It takes two, as they say!!!
You had me from "Complicated hearts rarely bloom." It explains so much to me.
Brilliant job Lamar!
It really does work both ways! Beautiful poem, Lamar!
If this doesn’t place, we riot
