Wanton and Disrespectful Indiscretion

"Overcooked/well-done steak" hating poem!

By Paul StewartPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Fish eggs and fish eyes don't bother me at all

Neither does Casu Marzu and Kopi Luwak really

Crazy, odd but I'm certain they'd be pleasant

Prepared in the right way, with a marrow entree

There are far worse crimes against my tastebuds

There are far worse culinary crimes that irk me

When people take a fine piece of marbled steak

And insist on

Cooking it

Within an inch

Of its life

Well done steak is anything but well done

It's dry and flavourless and tastes like dirt

Dirt that the beast used to frolic in before

Your savage and uncalled-for act of disrespect

I appreciate your squeamish sensibilities

I appreciate the red juice makes you dry retch

If you insist on ruining that fine piece of meat

Have the decency to remove mine from the pan

At least 20 minutes before you've charred yours

I know you think the sauce will mask it

It won't...

That sauce you made now tastes like sauce with dirt

Well done

No amount of fried onions, mushrooms, or red wine

Sauteed potatoes, thick fries, or creamy mash will cover

Your wanton and disrespectful bloody indiscretion.

    Strange to see all the different tastes out there...and all the ones I disagree with... ;) Anyway, here's mine: https://shopping-feedback.today/poets/beets-by-ugh%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E%3C/p%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3C/div%3E%3Cstyle data-emotion-css="w4qknv-Replies">.css-w4qknv-Replies{display:grid;gap:1.5rem;}

  • Funny Paul... However I do like my steak well done... there is a way to cook it well done and retain the flavor and more...

I had to double-check that my husband didn't write this! You sound just like him, when it comes to steak. These are frikin hilarious, Paul!

As a child, I hated and began to refuse to eat steak because my mom cooked it to the texture of beef jerky. I wouldn't try it again until a year after I lived out at the age of 17. The family I lived with was terrible- but they could cook a steak lol. It was the first time I ever tried a "rare " steak and now I can't eat it any other way.

I like well done, just right, no pink on the innard for me, thanks. We are all so very different. Cool beans. I see salmonella and icky business,

  • Hahaha vegetarian here. I like my meat fake 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Loved your poem!

Reminds me when I got a burger recently and I asked for a little bit of pink in the middle, medium rare, but when the burger arrived on my plate it was well done. I'm fine with eating foor that's cooked well done. A lot of people can do it properly. Yet, many more don't know how to keep the flavor inside of it, draining it of all its necessary fats and burning the proteins.

I'll take the well-done steak. I prefer meat to be dead before I put it in my mouth.....and that just went off in a whole other direction. I'll show myself out.

If it’s not medium-rare, SEND IT BACK!

On point - why do people eat steak and prime rib well done? Gives me the willies. My fav line ‘Have the decency to remove mine from the pan’

“Well done steak is anything but well done It's dry and flavourless and tastes like dirt Dirt that the beast used to frolic in before Your savage and uncalled-for act of disrespect” Funny ‘cause it’s true! 🤣 You were savage on this one. I like steak and burgers medium rare.

  • i want a ribeye

  • Amen, my friend! I have long queried those who would sup with me, "Do you want your steak well done or done well?"

  • Dana Crandell3 years ago

OMG, Yes! Sacrilege! Well done, Paul!
