Wait It Out My Love

Hold tight to your patience

Patience is the lifesaver you never knew you needed!

**

When the going gets tough — hold on tight and wait it out,

Hang in there,

You’ll see, time and patience is all you need.

**

My love, you’ll watch yourself come apart,

You’ll watch as you shatter into a million pieces,

And there’ll be nothing you can do about it,

Nothing you can do to stop the destruction.

**

You’ll lose who you are — or, who you always thought you were,

Pieces will be scattered by the wind,

Lost in life’s pavement cracks,

Forever forgotten!

**

But on the other end of patience — you’ll find parts of yourself you never knew existed,

You’ll piece each shattered shard back until the new you rises from the ashes,

Forever cracked but no longer broken,

Stronger than you ever imagined possible!

**

You’ll save yourself — rediscover the precious pieces of you,

Guard your sanity, your heart, your strength,

And return to live once again!

**

You’ll walk before you run,

Fall before you rise,

And reset your beating heart to love once again,

Housing your wisdom in the skin toughened to the ninth degree!

**

And when you least expect it — you’ll look back at the mess you once were,

You’ll remember and you’ll reminisce,

Reminded of the strength it took to rebuild,

And you’ll fill with pride!

**

It’s here you’ll understand — you’ll never again break to the same magnitude,

You’ll still love but never as deeply,

You’ll live with the regret, but you’ll learn to bury it within your heart,

And you’ll ride the waves of sorrow to a better, stronger you!

**

Patience will carry you into an unbelievable tomorrow!

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
