Volcanic Eruption Like Your Love
Your love erupts, violent, raw,
a molten force I never saw.
Lava-tongued, it carves my skin,
burns me whole from deep within.
Sky turns black, the air is thick,
ash and embers fall too quick.
You consume, you devastate,
turn desire into fate.
Tectonic shifts beneath my bones,
tremors echo in my tones.
Your wildfire touch, a fatal kiss,
pulls me deeper into this abyss.
Rivers blaze, no path to run,
flesh and soul are fused as one.
Searing currents drag me under,
roaring heat, relentless thunder.
You shake the ground, you crack the core,
demanding more, and more, and more.
No refuge left, no place to hide,
I’m lost within your ruthless tide.
Mountains crumble in your wake,
the earth is yours alone to break.
Yet even as the flames consume,
a twisted love begins to bloom.
Scorched and ruined, yet still I stand,
a willing martyr to your hand.
Even drowned in burning rain,
I’d set myself alight again.

"Death cannot stop true love, only delay it." – Wesley in The Princess Bride. I decided to come back to Vocal on a very cold and dark night at the end of December. I had been, and still am, convalescing from a horrible staph infection that had gone misdiagnosed for months. This, paired with the increasing challenges of being healthy, making the best choices for my co-parented child, being a wife, and being a director at a new job, was a lot to manage.
