Voices

Anxiety

By Vicki LucasPublished 6 years ago 1 min read

I have a little person, it’s one you cannot see

He sits inside my mind, and he only talks to me

He tells me I’m “not worthy”, he says “you can’t do that”

He tells me I’m “too skinny”, then tells me I’m “too fat”

That job you want, “won’t get it”!

Why even think to try, just go back to your bedroom ,and sit and think and cry.

But inside me there’s another voice, the one that keeps me strong

The one that keeps me going, tells me that “I belong”

In a world that’s full of sadness, a world fraught with fear and pain

Always keep your head up, and battle through the rain

Listen to that other voice, the one that speaks with light

Not the sneaky quiet one, that often comes at night

For you my friend are worthy, you are certainly enough

Achieve your dreams, move forward

You're made of stronger stuff
