A reflection on the commodification of the Internet & social media

Souls exist in transit

Seasons, days, minutes

Everything ends and everything begins

The light from the screen reflects the world

Artificial sunlight shines on our faces

Ads every second to sell us our happiness

The algorithm changes

Feeding, bleeding, all of it is fleeting

No matter, we refresh our memories again

It hurts, but we find a new chance to filter that away

Broken promises, novel viruses, a chance for validation

Are we happy?

I remember a time when all of this felt fun

But now it seems like our virtual escape

Has revealed itself to be a purgatory

I’ve lived my life online, but am I really living?

I miss the way you used to be
