You are a first-timer in video editing, I know how it could look frustrating and confusing each time you try to do the job. As with anything, once you start strong, you can easily build and achieve in your endeavors. I will provide you with the five simple steps to edit any video that you want to do so; thus, you will become a better editor and use your skills in creating videos effectively.
The first step while working on your project should be sorting, even before opening the editing software. I suggest creating a new folder on your computer, you can call it something along the lines of Date Video Name.
Inside this folder create sub folders A-roll and B-roll . After your folders are prepared, simply move the clips from your smart phone or SD card. And now, we can go into the editing software.
The next phase is to establish your edit. Save the project you have created to the folder that was created earlier. Your media import it and drag it into your timeline, then start editing by cutting away the unwanted parts. Correct mistakes, pauses, or filler words by the split tool (Command T on Mac). This is why editing in reverse can help you find the best takes.
Finally, once the A-roll has been trimmed back, it is time to add B-roll. B-roll helps to enhance your video by supplementing footage. You may even film your B-roll or use stock footage. Looking for suitable clips and placing them in your project is a straightforward process. If you need the audio from the B-roll, adjust it accordingly and mute if you do not.
Now comes the time to place text. Insertion of text elements does not only make your video look good, but it also makes the audience pay attention to the material. After making the video, screen it to spot any mistakes or problems. Make sure the rendering settings that you set are consistent with the specifications of your project file in terms of resolution and frame rate.
And just like that, you've got a masterpiece video edit. To end with, the video editing process when seen in terms of its elementary steps is much easier than it appears to be. You remember, strive to improve by just 1% with each piece of video you edit.
