This is what they meant when they said That Greed is the root of evil

But what if the devil is not what they said he was

But rather the greed from our own flesh and blood

Who takes from the starving to fill a full table

Because the staved are unable

The greed for things that don’t pass our graves

Because you don’t believe we are born the same

Carrying mal intent viscerally to your soul

Telling others that it’s worth and made up of gold

You quote teachings that you are not laymen enough

For you to apply them to those who you deem that you are above

Sitting comfortably in a false sense of security

And think I’m safe they won’t come for me

While I relish the thought of your revelation

And you see where you’re stationed

Selective ignorance as an adult is an interesting sin

Cause you expect the understanding as if you’re an infant

When you knew the consequences of those actions

So you sewed 9 stars into your faction

With your soul as the price of a fraction

We hear the drums and battle cries of those who believe in community

And you laugh at the concept of integrity

An old way of thinking, living, breathing, existing

And yet you still got it twisted

The houses will empty

The screams will silence

You’ll rejoice at the violence

Until you need our reliance

Then you’ll reach into a grave

Hoping to be saved

All because you thought there wouldn’t be a day

Where you’d have to pray

For food, for freedom, respect and soul

But it’ll be too late

Since you vetoed your soul

This carries such weight. The rhythm and imagery amplify the message. Selective ignorance has a cost, and your words make that clear.
