Inspired by Orlam

Introduction

"Orlam" by Polly Jean Harvey has provided more inspiration for me.

This is the paragraph that stopped me in my tracks:

Venus of the Woods - The Ash Tree, for its greaceful form and beautiful foliage. The Ash was credited with a range of protective and healing properties, most frequently related to children. Newborn babies were populary given a teaspoonful of Ash sap.

The music is "Dryad's Tree" by Derek Fiechter

Those thoughts remind me of someone very close to my heart, so this will be a villanelle based on that image and the love and inspiration that she gives to me.

You Are the Venus Of The Woods

The Beautiful, So Tender Ash

A Dryad, You're All That Is Good

You Care For All, That's Understood

Ash Dryad In The Green, Green Grass

You Are the Venus Of The Woods

You Give Your Sap To Babes Newborns

You Make Any Harm To Them Pass

A Dryad, You're All That Is Good

When Folk See you, You Raise Their Mood

Forest Spirit, Beautiful Ash

You Are the Venus Of The Woods

πŸŒ³β™ŽπŸ’œβ™‰πŸŒ³

You Are A Haven For The Birds

A Place Of Safety, A Calming Wrap

A Dryad, You're All That Is Good

All Who Meet You Are So Assured

Of Love And Care, This Mystic Ash

You Are the Venus Of The Woods

A Dryad, You're All That Is Good

Who can imagine a human-looking object made out of wood could inspire such feeling, maybe that's why they put her there. I even call this object her because of the feminine vibe she portrays in the woods. Thank you for this beautiful poem.

  • That was so mystical! Loved your wonderful Villanelle!
