Vanish

One way to disappear, is to abandon yourself in the pursuit of a relationship… here’s how it’s done.

By Sasha ChaplyPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

One step forward,

Two steps back.

Tuck your chin in.

Straighten your back.

There she is,

my little soldier

with an iron spine,

a collar around her neck.

But only for the right man,

you hear me?

And only for the right price.

Speaking of a man,

where is he?

Here darling…

put these heels on,

some red lipstick,

just a smudge…

and a little black dress

for his eyes to asses.

It’s your body,

not your soul

that he’ll want

to caress.

Find him.

Grab him.

Embrace him.

Hide your tears, smile,

hold your breath

when you face him.

Lock him in.

Cherish him, praise him.

He pulls away?

Two steps back,

don’t chase him.

Suffer in silence,

but love him even more,

to death that is,

as is that is…

with every fibre of your being.

The stale jokes,

the warts, the farts,

the shortcomings,

the missing parts.

Become his anchor,

his resting place…

his tongue, his ears, his sight.

No pressure!

No matter what

he says or does,

hold on to him

for your dear life.

Hold on to him,

hold on,

till your knuckles go white.

And like his shadow,

with your dreams and hopes,

slowly but surely, disappear into the night.
