Upon The Clouds

Creature of unowned love

In a land of shadows and lights,

Where darkness shrouds the light,

And the moon shines ever bright,

Lived a creature with wings of white.

With feathers soft and pure,

It soared above the moors,

Thought mist and rain it flew,

It’s journey never thought.

It’s eyes shone like the stars,

And it’s heart beat with the scars,

Of a life that knew no ease,

Of a love that longed to please.

For the creature had a mate,

Whose fate was sealed by hate,

And though they could not be,

Their love burned endlessly.

And so the creature flew,

Through skies of black and blue,

Searching for a way,

To be with its love one day.

But fate would not relent,

And their love was soon spent,

The creature’s heart torn in two,

Left to wonder, lost and blue.

And so it flew on and on,

Until its journey was done,

And though it never found its mate,

Its love lived on, eternal and great.

End.
