Stream of consciousness about space
Why is it that life is cyclical?
From work to home and back again like drones
Is that how it always was?
That feels empty sometimes, doesn’t it?
Whenever I think that I look at the vast space above and wonder if we will ever reach beyond
Beyond what the eyes can see, or the mind comprehends
Beautiful endlessness
Unfathomable
Unsurmountable
Seemingly within reach but realistically isn’t.
Distance calculated in ways unheard of.
The thought itself seems flippant;
Mere humans daring to think about the universe
Are we arrogant in our thoughts?

When does it stop being curiosity and turn to conceit?
Is it when we start selling pieces of a moon we never stepped on?
Or arranging space tours that millions were spent on?
Some are hell bent on achieving greatness
in space when earth is plagued with problems slept on
A thought crept on my mind

Do we have the right to dream about what’s out there?
-
Probably not, but who cares?
We march towards the unknown and hope for the best.
Maybe we don’t reach it, but find treasures along the way.
Yes, maybe looking at space is a waste, but look at the things we found along the way:
Home insulation to keep out the cold
Cameras small enough to be in your phone
The pillows under you made of memory foam
And so many things we take for granted
Because we use them every day and we’ve adapted.

Moral of the story: I will still think of space.
Because one day a treasure will encase... my thoughts.

"Do It Again" the track that would ultimately open the Beach Boys final album on Capitol Records which was released on February 10th 1969 had originally been released as a single in August of 1968. The track was the first of many post-Pet Sounds era throwbacks to the early Beach Boys sound which would become continually more cliched and eventually lead the Beach Boys to the level of self-parody they would eventually succumb to in the 1980s while their closest contemporaries The Beatles nearing the end of their run in 1969 would go on to be viewed as the most influential band of all time. However, the song itself is not bad on its surface, and it opens with a futuristic sounding (for 1969) drumbeat captured by then-Beach Boys engineer Stephen Desper using tape delays on the drums performed by Dennis Wilson and John Guerin. The song has been re-recorded numerous times over the years on various Beach Boys-related projects most notably the 2011 re-recording at Capitol studios featuring the five surviving Beach Boys at the time backed instrumentally by various members of both the Brian Wilson Band and Mike Loves touring "Beach Boys" to promote the then upcoming Beach Boys 50th Anniversary reunion tour in 2012. The hammering and power drill sound at the end of the song was an excerpt from a track called "Workshop" that was to be a part of the uncompleted "SMiLE" album.

Wonderful challenge entry! This was a very approachable and engaging stream of consciousness piece! I get intimidated by some but this felt almost familiar in a great way
You are right, we try to get into the be the outer space frontier when we have not yet conquer all the earths issues
