Should I Rhyme?

I feel compelled to...

Why is it that I feel the urge to rhyme?

Time after time the pen flows confined

to certain rhythms and flows while it denies

other words that might want to combine

and be part of the creation of divine

writing, and dancing around the line.

-

Unnecessary for true creativity. Let the words freely flow...

Ideas are flowing on air waiting to be penned.

Feeling injustice simply because they don’t fit the rhyme scheme.

Each idea and word deserves a moment under the

spotlight

To be shown through stories weaved on paper.

-

But aren’t you bored when doing this?

Simply putting down thoughts with absence

of planning or ranking of words over others in a canvas

of creativity and affinity of matches?

Sure, it can be madness...

But the outcome is matchless

when words string together like magic

creating a flow so powerful and lasting!

Perfect and imperfect matches.

End rhymes or internal sometimes.

I do abuse the end of lines often,

but I can soften my approach.

Slowly broach the subject of the writing

to get the reader to bite-in to the stem of it

But most likely I just do it for the hell of it.

Because why not?

I tried the other way but to me it felt stifling.

My brain is the barrel and the rhyming is rifling.

Focussing ideas down the path without scattering.

It doesn’t always work, as scattering is often needed

To knead some ideas into reality.

Yet I still go back to thee...

Rhyming.

Oh yes! The poem I needed! Whenever I say "now I'm gonna write a free verse" I always get the urge to find rhyming words and well, the free verse is gone... Great poem, very relatable!😊
