Unfolding the Story on the Mat
For yoga is a story told, and one that touches every heart
Ancient myths and tales are told
Of how yoga came to be,
Of gods and sages, young and old
Who sought enlightenment, free.
The story goes that Lord Shiva
First taught the practice to mankind,
And that the asanas, breath, and mantra
Were secrets closely guarded, confined.
But as the centuries have passed
And yoga spread across the land,
The myths and legends have amassed
And taken on a new form, grand.
Some say that yoga is a tool
For reaching inner peace and light,
That through the poses and the rule
Of breath control, we'll take flight.
Others view it as a way
To heal the body, mind, and soul,
A path to balance, strength, and grace
That makes us whole.
Regardless of the myths we hear
Yoga still holds its power true,
To guide us on our journey here
And help us to see all that is new.
So let the tales and myths unfold
And in your practice, take a part,
For yoga is a story told
And one that touches every heart
