My words come out in perfect English

careful, precise, intentional,

but you hear gargling, mumbles, ancient Greek,

anything but the words I mean,

so I adjust.

My words are typed and sent in clear letters

the things I can't say in-person spelled out in detail,

but the text is blurry, showing up in Wingdings on your screen,

something is happening so you can't read,

and I am at a loss.

What is this disconnect,

this bridge we cannot cross

this one-way street of understanding?

I am stuck, left in this mental sludge to wonder how I can remove it,

and how you can say you love someone you can't understand.

sad poetry
