Unconditional

A Poem

Humans are becoming

shallower than pools,

dedicating their lives

to making others feel like fools.

Picking and poking

at one another’s imperfections

and failing to make

lasting connections.

So many fish in the sea,

yet we’re all too fixated

On each others insecurities.

To find love when the world is dim,

hope in the arms of another

is a chance to begin again.

Unconditional love,

the rarest of them all,

the love we freely give as children,

Before people make us feel small.

In times like today when self is priority,

loving someone for who they are

is something we all need.

To embrace the parts of us,

that don’t fit the norm

and ride through the lightning

when life becomes a storm.
