After the Storm. Photo by Haze McElhenny

Irene

says love

in the end

will make wallpaper

of you. And eye

say love

then let me be

wallpaper. Cherry

laminate & almost

lickable. Damned.

Impervious.

And absolutely

indelible

***

In this dream

I shaved

my head

& taught

my Barbie Hair

to walk

on a leash

***

I need

to un.love you.

Rescind

the magic & reverse

polarity.

***

I opened my mouth to the sky and let the stars fall in,

swallowing each and every one. And they burned.

Burned like whiskey going down.

***

She fans the steam

like fog across the dark lake

of her coffee bowl. A dim pond

quakes. No cranes take flight.
