Not Far Enough

Two thousand miles,

I used to think that was too far,

Now it's not far enough.

Six thousand hours,

I used to want more,

Now that's more than enough.

Distance,

Time,

Waiting for this pain to end,

Running on autopilot.

Abuse,

Neglect,

That's what made up our relationship,

And yet I'd still go back to it.

Two thousand miles,

I used to think that was too far,

Now it's not far enough.

Have you ever been in a relationship that you were almost addicted to, only to find out later that was part of the manipulation and abuse? This is a poem inspired by my experience with getting over that, despite the relationship being long-distance.
