Truth be told

It took a lockdown to realise what we are gifted with

That life is a blessing and not a myth

It took pain and loneliness to know

What it would mean if those simple everyday chores would be no more

How did it get so bitter?

How did we manage to treat life like litter ?

It took a mask to look into one's eyes

And to find that there's more within that lies

It took social distancing to understand

How much we appreciate and long for a hand

How did it get so intense ?

Were we blinded by a stone lens ?

How did we become so cold ?

That for the sake of pride

The greatest story of the love of God

We left untold

How did we become so bold ?

That we left the hand of our father

that we would always hold

How did we reach such a coast ?

That it took us helplessness and anxiety

To remember that we need God the most

How did it reach to so much hurt ?

That it took us a virus and sickness

To truly understand what every little thing is worth
