True Love: Admiration and Tenderness
Is It True Love? The Two Questions That Reveal All
True love is never about who obeys whom, but rather about willingly accepting the other person, appreciating them, cherishing them, understanding them, and embracing them.
The concept of "mutual submission" doesn't mean sacrificing yourself or giving up your own opinions. Instead, it signifies aligning your values, being able to accept each other's emotions, avoiding volatile arguments, and tolerating each other's quirks. It isn't about forced compromise; it's a sense of acceptance that says, "I know you're doing this for my own good."
How do you tell if you truly love someone? It's simple. If you admire them and cherish them, then your love is real.
What do you admire? Of course, you admire the aspects that make them stronger than you: their attitude, the way they handle difficult situations, the light in their eyes, and their fighting spirit. These are the parts of them you aspire to be like but haven't yet achieved—the qualities that inspire genuine admiration.
But even the strongest people have their moments of vulnerability. If you can see the side of them that no one else sees—their loss, their anxiety, their helplessness, their breakdown—and if you don't despise this weakness but instead want to embrace them and hold them close, then that is the meaning of "cherishing." The most precious thing about love is being able to see its rise and accept its fall. In your eyes, they aren't a perfect god, but someone you're willing to work hard with and persevere through everything, together.
A true relationship is one where you respect them when you look up and want to embrace them when you look down. In your eyes, they are not just glamorous, but also weary and vulnerable. They inspire both admiration and tenderness. Only such a person is worth dedicating your entire life to.
So stop focusing on how much money they make or how accomplished they are. Instead, ask yourself: Do you admire them? Do you cherish them? If the answer is yes to both, congratulations, you've truly fallen in love with the right person.
