True Love

setting it up for the next gen.......

Love is very sweet,

Even when it may appear odd,

When to the older generation it doesn’t meet,

Their approving nod.

But we need to let them know,

It is our time now,

And our love we will not hide so,

We will not whimper or bow.

For love; true love is love after all,

No matter who your partner is on the outside,

If the old farts want to play hardball,

Just don’t invite them when the knot between you is tied.

However should they get an invite,

They should consider themselves lucky to have a relative like you,

But if disgust appears on their faces; take delight,

As like babies they are experiencing something they consider strange and new.

Do not give in to demands of giving up true love,

Because of distance, gender or race,

As true love is like a heaven-sent dove,

And the older generation have had their time and place.

To round this up and bring this rhyme to an end,

We need to show the next gen be true to those you are in love with,

Even if it drives the older generation around the bend,

And that is all from this wordsmith.
