True Friendship Is Eternal
A Friendship Villanelle
I have friends who I may not speak to for months, and I have friends who I lose contact with and then reconnect with and then started thinking that real friendship is eternal and will always be there. I feel sad for people who give up on friendship, often because of misunderstanding and refusal to forgive.
In my life, I don't think that I have ever lost a true friend even though people tell me not to waste my time, or to forget about friends who maybe have other pressing things in their life.
This was inspired by some beautiful words from a friend:
Ever faithful, kind and true;
It's a shame you sometimes feel so blue,
I don't know what I ever did to deserve a friend like you.
So I decided to write a villanelle to emphasise that, if we so choose, we can always have friendships with the ones that really matter to us.

It's a shame that friendship has been replaced with network, and while a robust network can help you reach your goals, they will not have your back. True friends are not reduced to transactions, and if we want real friends we need to learn how to be real friends as well. Wonderful villanelle!
