Even in death
Trees bring forth life
Nursery logs for
the next generation
.
Foundation providers
For these hemlock saplings
So they to can rise up
Into the overstory
.
Sharing
The breath of life
Synthesizing oxygen
For our humanity

And as the rains come
To this temperate rainforest
Mosses and lichen take hold
.
Clinging and surviving via
Osmosis; a process not unlike
Our own assimilation
Of thoughts and ideas

And as these tall
Sitka spruce stand quite and still
Observing our interconnectedness
Remains imperative
In what we do
And the decision we take
About the Creator
