oh, just shut up about that tortured artist

Bull crap.

It’s a very sideways thing to watch yourself get into these situations without repose

As you flip out and flip upside down and then upright, slammed, abruptly

To feel most alive during an extended period of agony & pitch blackness

No warm sun sensation

Only darkness so thick you feel it inching down your throat like molten molasses

Screaming with not a sound,

The first splash of paint like an iron skeleton around your very soul

Don’t touch that spiked tonic of tortured artist agenda

For it is laced with being alive,

You cannot comprehend that others can die and be forgotten,

And others live on, telling their stories over & over

nameless, but real

Darker than light can reflect.

heartbreak

    WOW!😱 Phenomenal!

  • You cannot comprehend that others can die and be forgotten, And others live on, telling their stories over & over These lines hit me so hard. I felt this when my cat passed away. I felt time stop for me but others were going on about their normal lives. Loved your poignant poem!

  • It's been so long since I saw "Frida" I'm no longer sure I did, lol. I may have to check it out.

I love this line, "You cannot comprehend that others can die and be forgotten." Because ironically, despite being remembered, most artists aren't recognized for their work the way they should be in their lifetime. And even if they are, they rarely reap the benefits. I think about this sometimes. Think about how much money has been made from JRR Tolkiens work, yet, it mostly goes to corporations that have bought the rights to what he created. Yes, some goes to his heirs. But the reality is the someone like JK Rowling( a person that has earned a on from their creation in their lifetime) is an aberration.
