Top Story Euphoria
The rise and fall of the top story
The notification buzzes, a sudden, bright spark.
"Top Story."
The words bloom on the screen,
a momentary supernova of validation.
A warmth spreads, a lightness in the chest.
The numbers climb, a visible heartbeat
of attention, of connection.
Messages flood in, echoes of your thoughts
resonating in others.
For a day, the world feels tilted on its axis,
your small corner illuminated.
A fleeting celebrity in the vast digital landscape.
Then, the slow drift begins.
The numbers plateau, the comments dwindle.
New stories rise, eclipsing the old.
The top spot, once a beacon, fades into the list.
There is no lingering bitterness, only a quiet understanding.
The rush was a gift, a brief surge of energy.
But the wellspring is not in past glories.
The lesson whispers in the quiet aftermath:
the keyboard awaits.
The next idea flickers, a nascent flame.
Bask in the glow, yes, for a breath.
Acknowledge the small victory.
But the truest reward lies not in yesterday's triumph,
but in the unwritten words, the stories still waiting
to be pulled from the depths.
The craft demands constant tending,
the voice needs daily exercise.
You are the sum of your efforts,
and there is always more to give.
So, rise. Engage. Write on.

Right now, I'm doing 100 articles in 30 days, this is day 12 of the challenge. I've published 19 articles in that time, and this is my 20th piece. I'm almost halfway through the challenge, so I have to step up my efforts to complete the 100 articles in 30 days. I know I can do it because I've done it before on Medium, and I'm fully focused on getting this done.
