Cremated by an onslaught of hatred and violence.
We rise like Phoenixes, ever prouder and stronger.
Like the rich colors of a peacock,
We radiate our beauty with each stride.
Untethered by the daily struggles,
And discriminating lies.
Like the colors of a rainbow,
We embrace our beauty.
Each color stranded together in unity.
We march along, singing our song,
One day, One day, We Shall Overcome!
No need to stifle who we truly are inside.
Together we can stand with pride.
Unafraid to face the lashes of hate,
We bare our scars and defeat our fate.
Sharing our unique wonders with the world.
Adding our light wherever darkness lurks.
We face the sun each day, soaking in its warm rays.
And thank God, we’ve lived to see another day.
