Today I Left The Office

A poem

Today I left the office...

Wet and wild and soaked in blood.

It was a day like any other.

Thrown about in a hurricane

of motionless contribution.

Waterboarded by the inconsequence

of aspirational design.

The lardy tales of nothingness

dripping down my sighs.

Winning awards for arguments with

the snivelling office prick.

Whilst the eagles of insanity

circle to take their pick.

Spinning on a roulette wheel

through chambers of mirrors.

Shuffling sheets of indifference

as though there could be winners.

A nibbled ear

that takes with it

a stinking pound of flesh.

Eating for lunch

a battering ram,

with a side of salty chips.

Smarting at the sneers.

Lazy with the lies.

A hundred horses pulling me

across the cunty mile.

A thousand locks

for a ship that's docked.

A prisoner

in quickening claptrap sand.

Hoarse from shouting whispers

over a marching brass band.

Whilst the music

in what matters

nobody appears to hear.

Drowned in the subordination

of my dried-up tears.

Broadly speaking,

tube line seeking,

engine packing in.

Another TV dinner

and a towel that's been thrown in.

Ambition a burst blister,

raw on my hide.

Experience an abyss,

with a filthy, blood-sweat tide.

I am a cannon fodder weirdo.

A crack in a concrete floor.

Picking glass out of my face

where I banged it against the wall.
