To Speak
A reflection on speech, silence, worth, and meaning

To speak—
To say something meaningful
With a meaningless vocabulary,
To say something of creation
In a manufactured world,
To say something of singularity
In a world of overproduction,
Where nothing is new,
Nothing is unique.
To say something of value
When everything is discounted,
It can all be made more cheaply and sold for more than you got it.
To say something of friendship
In a network of ones and zeroes.
To be silent
In a world that constantly notifies,
Notifies,
Notifies
Notifie
Notif
Noti
Not
No
No
No
No.
To say yes.
