When I first started dancing
It was to compliment my first love
Gymnastics
I was strong, but not flexible
So I took ballet
I found it boring at the time
Then I discovered musical theater in high school
I discovered jazz dance
I was hooked
In college, I minored in dance
I almost changed my major to dance
In my twenties, in between having babies, I danced at home
I danced for myself
No class, few performances
I never stopped dancing for myself
I am 55 now, but doing a turn in my kitchen still brings me joy
I love the feel, the sound of my feet, sliding into an arch
The way I can still make a clean kick, though not as high
I hope I can always dance
It is a joy

Yes! Thanks for reading!
The best kinda happiness is when we're able to do what brings us joy and when we do it for ourselves! Loved your poem!
