To Cry Like a Little Child

A Poem

Sometimes I just want to cry,

As though I’m a little child.

A little child who does not care

How she even looks like

When she cries.

Sometimes I just want to cry

As though I’m six or five.

A kid who pouts and wails

As though her lungs would burst

When tears fall like rain.

Sometimes I just want to cry

Without explaining,

Without anyone complaining

How I’m not making

Any sense at all.

Sometimes I just want to cry

As though I’m a little child.

The kind of weeping

That goes with knowing

She need not hide her teary eyes.
