Timeless Bonds: A Canine's Love
Grief Poem

We were two living souls,
Who had the same goals.
To find the purest love,
As pure as the flight of a white dove.
You nursed me when I was a sickly puppy,
Hand-fed me until I grew adorably chubby.
Patiently tamed me when I was a rambunctious breeze.
Never uttering a harsh word,
Even when I acted like a stampeding cattle herd.
Piddling on your carpets, chewing up your mail,
My only punishment was crate time, a comfy jail.
Laughter and endearing affection floated in the air,
As we cuddled together on your lazy-boy chair.
My antics made you happy and helped you forget your pain.
As I grew into a poised dog,
Your time-weathered mind was becoming a fog.
Time was not on our side,
Your honey laughter was replaced with a sad cry.
Gone are the days of frolic and play,
Your bed had become our daily stay.
Then the fateful day arrived, my head resting gently on your belly,
As your final raspy breath whispered a tender goodbye.
Peace settled around the two of us,
Even though around us, there was a heartbreaking fuss.
My days are new, adjusting to life with your daughter,
I wipe away her tears like a thirsty dog looking for water.
Visiting you at your new forever home,
I lie here, never wanting to roam.
Please, dear lord,
Give my master eyes to see,
That we may be bodily apart,
But her spirit will forever be in my heart.

That is so sad and so sweet. I'm glad her to give you comfort.
This was beautiful. Tiger is a very cute dog. I'm sorry that you've had to join the motherless club, it's the hardest one to be a member of, I know because I miss my mother every day of my life.
Heartbreaking, yet heartwarming. Our canine companions offer the best comfort.
Oh, I thought this was going to be an ode to a pet that died... this is even sadder 😔 I had a dog that my dad gave to me when I was twelve. He outlived my dad, and when he died, it was like losing dad all over again. ♥
This was great, a well written tribute to the loving bond between pets and people. Emotionally potent poetry. Well done.
I am sorry, for your loss. I hope this helps you with your grief. I can relate to your poem.
Love the pictures fellow dog lover. This is a nice way to remember. Great work.
