Time
The Clock Is Ticking
Time is a thief
I recall hearing her say
With neither a sigh of relief
Or hint of dismay
From the first sign of life
We are breathing our last
She said, I’m not being trite
It just goes by that fast
*
Love is a sport, an impossible game
Some spend a whole lifetime learning to play
Together, they have a very strange way
of twisting you up, trying to drive you insane
*
But there is rest in the mundane
Release in routine
Until life presents the next thing
that needs our energy
*
Find peace in a good book
or a friends listening ear
Don’t let your emotions go misunderstood
wasted, trapped in a bundle of fear
*
Time is a thief
I recall hearing her say
With neither a sigh of relief
Or hint of dismay
*
It’s a matter of fact, just a part of this life
don’t dwell on it dear, it’ll all be alright
It’s just part of the process, in our journey to find
all of the things we can fit into a life,
(from birth till we run out of time)

Kelli, this is lovely!!!💕❤️❤️
Time is extremely elusive. This was written so beautifully!
Time for a comment, I suppose (the mundane). Oh, look at the time (the hastening, excitability)! Oh, no, we're out of time (the end). BTW, loved it!!!!!!!!
Wise words, from whoever she was, honored well by yours. Wonderful poem, Kelli.
how true. At 76 years old, I look back and wonder where it all went and did it go so fast.
Kelli, this poem carries in it so much peace. Your writing consistently makes me feel as though I’ve taken a deep, cleansing breath. Loved it! ❤️
