The Story Behind The Poetry

I started writing to vent out thought and emotions as help dealing with various mental health issues. This writing is just that, however this is an edited version.

Don't like what I see today and didn't like what I saw yesterday

The sky may be blue but I'm seein' gray, goin' through it everyday

'Keep pushin' through it." That's all they ever say

Pushin' through it day by day, I'm gettin' weaker everyday

I'm daydreamin' thinkin' about the future because I still believe in

hope

My vision's just like a movie, streamin' into the minds around me, I

hope I give them hope

Because I remember the time when I was hanging on to the end of

my rope and I had lost hope

At an all-time low and not knowin' where to go - I let go

That was the worst day, anger by day and tears by night

Friday I got my check and I knew I wasn't goin out that night I had

to make a choice, go get groceries or go get therapy

"Ramen for dinner tonight." I opened my book of poetry and

began to write

Because therapy was a hundred dollars a session but the poetry

was free, that's why I use it so set me free

And it's because poetry is my therapy that I encourage you to find

yours

Because everyone's fightin' silent battles, just as you're fightin'

yours

I fight my battles with the words I write

I let the ink spill with all my feelings on the darkest nights

And then everything seems alright.

Because behind all this poetry is a story.

About the Creator

Josh Morgan

Personally, writing began as a creative outlet, to be a means of processing and venting emotion, but it has become so much more. Something I want not to be just relatable, enjoyable and a good read, but to reach someone who is in need.
