this mask i wear

is heavy

this mask is too tight

this mask has a permanent smile

to mask my inner fight

this mask i wear

is suffocating

it makes it hard to breathe

it makes it hard to speak

this mask

has made me weak

i hate wearing this mask every day

but it’s become a part of me

i don’t even take it off anymore

i even wear it to sleep

now i can’t remember the last time

i saw the real me

sad poetry
