a poem

Tell me you love me

Not because I need to hear it

But because when you look at me

You're still compelled to say it

And you so strongly believe it

Surprise me

Think of me often

Look up from your phone and face me

Take a minute to embrace me

Not only on dates

But just because it's Tuesday

Kiss me with no explanation

Tell me you miss me

Even if it's only been a day

I want this long after the honeymoon phase

This is one year, five years

Even ten years in

There should be no expiration

Love doesn't die because of time

Love dies because people no longer try

love poems
