This I Claim

I built my house there

Brick by brick

The foundation was weak

I knew this

And yet I built

Hoping with every tear,

Sweat, and drop of blood

To sturdy the foundation

Of this tumbling hill

And when it was done

I placed my flag

Into the soil there

Marking it as mine

But when the hill

Crumbled beneath me

I stood back up and said

“No, for you I have claimed,

I built here

I intend to stay,

You may fall again

But I will only

Place brick upon brick

Yet again

For you are my hill

This I claim

This I will keep”

Let it repeat again
