Things That Make You Go Boom!
A Free Verse Poem
By Laura PruettPublished about a year ago • Updated about a year ago • 1 min read

He tends the fire slowly, carefully,
Orange flame licking up hot steel sides,
Oak potpourri tinting the crisp air.
Time passes.
Fire paints the brown black
Before dying, and the coal cools.
While it does,
He finds his pestle,
Lost somewhere in that jumble of things
He calls his shed.
Then he begins to grind.
The mortar fills with a fine dust,
The perfect powder for his keg!
