They Don’t Make Mirrors Like They Used To
And Time Is Unkind

They say, time is ageless
We know age is timeless
With acts of aggression
Boldly marring our faces
Carving, care freely
Without reservation
A bit touchy feely
About preservation
Flashing a grin
Burrowing under our skin
And all over the place
In shades of yellow and gray
Though we try to replace
A once translucent derma
Exposing the fray
Masquerading as karma
That no one escapes
And it comes with a vengeance
There are no alterations
No avoiding contensions
Time shows no discrimination
Regardless of masks
Or epidermal peelings
Daily facial tasks
When seeing is believing
There is nothing to say
It’s something to accept
It isn’t going away
Your mirror will reveal it, the closer it gets
So, hang on to your hats
Time ain't done with you, yet

Nicely done! Yeah, what is wrong with those mirrors? 🤣
This is a good way to look at growing older in today's society. Good job.
Gurl you tore this up and told the truth! :))) Phenomenal job!💪🏾
I'm always shocked when I look in the mirror and see an old woman looking our. When did she get there? Seems just yesterday I was 19, lol
This is such a clever and witty take on aging! The way you’ve personified time as both relentless and impartial is brilliant. The playful tone mixed with a touch of reality gives it a perfect balance between humor and reflection (pun intended).
Well-wrought! Perhaps a time will come when we will put away the mirrors and see with a different eye. When mirror regards mirror, which is the reflection?
Oh, I like this, and it has a fantastic title! 🪞
