Those sudden moments you realize you are a living thing and wonder what’s your purpose in life
Believing that a thing that was created can’t be broken, like generational curses
No words for the sound one makes from being exhausted spiritually
Similar to the inaudible sound you make when hitting your pinky toe on the corner of the bed
For wanting what you can’t have
and having what you don’t need
and needing what you can’t get,
like clean air and clean food,
like justice
No words for the spark that gradually disappears from a child’s spirit as if it were never even there
How the trees just be doing their thing every season with no complaints meanwhile, we’re just trying to figure out how to stay alive
The feeling from tasting food so damn good, it just does something to you
That familiar smell that brings you back to a memory you forgot existed,
from the depths of your trauma blocked subconscious
For witnessing possibilities and still choosing to live in doubt
