Disappointing overachievers who failed to grasp how easy it is to stop.

Beholden to their peer perceived perfection, dying to not underperform.

Self inflicting wounds upon the flesh, and injury made to the mind.

Brother breathe.

When the path you walk crumbles ahead of you, when the distance before your destination increases, when the air feels thin, and then panic sets in.

Deny their proclamation of gifted child that they refused to nurture.

Deny their stealing of achievements.

Deny their rights to you, they had none to begin with.

Sowing the seeds of self doubt, an anxious brain breaks prior to their fruition.

Brother breathe.

Set free the loving soul that was meant to be, before becoming another cog in the system abandoned by the thieves of innocence.

About the Creator

Jake Trammell

I write things I could never speak aloud. Usually in the form of poetry or short stories. One day I’d like to write a novel.
