The Woman in the Window
She looks so alone from an out side view

The Woman in the Window
She sits by the glass,
hands folded,
staring at leaves falling,
her eyes know pain.
Her lips never speak,
her heart drifts,
tied to nowhere,
lost in the moment.
The rain hits slow,
soft and sharp,
A memory that never fades.
I knock, she smiles.
A ghost of warmth,
then disappears,
leaving shadows behind,
I wait, listening.
Night feel her sorrow,
and mine with it,
the stars blink gently,
the wind whispers softly.
I wish I could reach her,
touch her heart,
heal the silence,
hold her from afar.
The world waits quietly,
for answers she cannot give,
her presence lingers,
a fragile light in darkness.
I leave with echoes,
footsteps fading,
heart heavy,
hoping she knows I care.

We often don't know what people are rally feeling many times, yet as humans we are often very quick to judge. Nice job, Marie.
This is a poem that describes a nurse who cares and/or cared for patients with dementia/Alzheimer's. Great work.
OMG!! Marie, this hits home so perfectly. This reminds me of the last few months of my mom's life as I watched the dementia take over. You described her eyes to a T. The last emotion I saw was when I asked her if my father was proud of me. She asked me who my father was. I said, "your husband". She looked confused and asked, "I was married?" I answered, "Mom, remember that handsome young sailor?"... Her eyes sparkled and said, "My Frankie? I married my Frankie?" Those were her very last words but I saw at least a thousand memories with them. ...................... My friend, you've put a smile on my face just thinking of how here eyes lit with happiness.
