The Welcome Wreath
Tankas on nurturing a welcoming spirit for the holidays
We celebrate with the spirit of welcome. - Michelle Liew
This is for Poppy’s Prompt #12 and Vocal's Holiday Reflections in Verse Challenge.
*************************************************
A wreath on the door,
That encircles joy and warmth
The holly ring welcomes,
Through cold winds stays hanging proud
Welcome for all who walk by.
*************************************************
Hands hold it with care,
It graces the door with love,
Receives with open arms
Though rough winds may blow,
Hearts will find refuge in blight.
*************************************************
Note:
I have written this poem in the Tanka form, two tankas, each with the 5-7-5-7-7 format.

I've never seen this form. May have to try it out. Thanks for teaching me something new. Love the poem also!
Nicely done, Michelle! Pam and I used to always have a wreath on the front of our vehicles during the Holidays! This might be a good year to renew that tradition.
Absolutely beautiful, makes me want to get a wreath for my door!
Beautiful thoughts and visual :)
This was so beautifully sublime! Loved your Tankas!
Your descriptions of a wreath inspire me to pause and look deeper into expressions this Christmas season.
