The Angel's Epiphany
A Short Inspirational Holiday Poem
We need others, even if we think we don’t. -Michelle Liew
*****************************
Atop the tree, in glorious grace
I hold it dear, the honored place
Feathered wings gleaming, I now see clear
The festive world, so far, yet near.
*****************************
“Look at these frills,” I loudly muse
“Those gaudy baubles, all confused
Their glitter fades, their sheen wanes,
While mine goes on, eternal stays.”
*****************************
The presents rest, under the tree,
The family gathers, laughs with glee
Each bauble, they now touch with care
Recall the times of joy they shared
*****************************
A cut tassel, and tangled lights,
An old toy soldier brings delight
Their laughs resound, my glow now dims
As tears appear now on my wings.
*****************************
As darkness falls, the trees lights fade
My lofty throne on top now swayed
“Where are the trinkets?” I faintly call
Without their lift, I might now fall!”
*****************************
The decorations, unified,
Now fix the bulbs, the night aligned
When new light dawns, I truly see
That their shine reflects on me.
*****************************
My pride now gone, my wings humbled
I dress the tree, without a grumble
The lesson I learned, my heart’s new guide
All as one, the yule’s revived.
