The Weight of Delay

On stumbling, rising, and finally daring to trust yourself

By Marcus HillPublished 5 months ago 1 min read

How easy—

simply trust yourself,

and succeed.

Can’t believe I stumbled this long

without taking the hand of fearlessness.

Oh boy, how do I explain

all this procrastination?

Slowly watching those

who carry my name on their backs

deteriorate.

Saving the day—

a movie scene I’ve practiced

till nauseousness.

Too bad the dream was created

but never chosen for molding.

Scattered,

hoping to trip on the pieces

that could create my image—

who I was meant to be.

Missing points

that spell themselves in pain,

yet still untrained

in the language of love.
