The violence and Impulsivity of Colour
A story of colour and its grasp on our perception of reality

Have you ever noticed how we base our opinions through colour?
Red is angry,
Black is cold and alone,
Yellow is happy and naive, and orange is warm and welcoming.
Colour has an unprecedented hold on our lives and perception of reality;
Moving through life we determine emotions, friendliness, wellness;
and compatibility through colours.
Controlling our willingness to, approach others or label things as good or bad…
If we simply see things in black and white, this discrimination and oppression of expression and perception is abolished.
Seeing in colour;
Oh how hideous colour can be.
Expressing rage and planting fear into people by something as simple as the messages colour;
It’s domineering and warped, making once previously simple things complex.
Seeing in black and white is villainised,
for then we don’t see the ‘beauty’ in things.
I disagree,
Black and white allows those to see the facts, and the beauty becomes clearer than ever.
The hues of black, white and grey… reveal the complex composition of an image - revealing the deep and endearing nature of a point;
The sharp shapes and angles are revealed - exposing how concise and clear cut things are - showing the immutable facts of the image.
The control colour has on our lives - brutal and corrupt.
Colour is nothing more than pigments and shades, infiltrating our perceptions of reality.
Colour: arbitrary and impulsive; not even transferrable across cultures.
It's unstable and unknowing - inserting chaos into our lives.
Black and white, however...
That is true peace.
That is true serenity.
That is true beauty.
