The Tiny Squirrel

Rescue and Release

By Lee BevanPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I saw a tiny squirrel

Laying on the ground,

I crept up ever so slowly

I didn't make a sound.

I could see he was too young

To climb the enormous tree,

So I thought I would help him

And then I'd set him free.

I took him home and fed him

Kept him safe until he was strong,

I knew he would be ready soon

It wouldn't take very long.

Soon he was up and about

And stronger than before,

I knew what I had to do

So I took him out the door.

I walked him over to the tree

And I gently let him go,

Then he did something so special

I shall tell you so you know.

He turned around and gave a wave

While staring right at me,

Then he scampered on his way

Up into the great oak tree.
